Executive Officers

Aboshioma Obemeata, known as “Sho for short, is Advancement Through Athletic’s founder and president. He is a graduate of UMBC (Baltimore, MD) with a Bachelors of Arts in  Cinematic Arts (2014), and a Masters of Science in Athletic Administration from Springfield College (Springfield, MA). He is a certified Strength and Conditioning Coach through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and has coached youth to aspiring professionals in a variety of sports. He currently serves as the International Teams Coordinator for USA Track and Field. Born in Central London, Sho became a naturalized US citizen as of 2015. His mother, Dr. Helen, resides in New York while his sister, Ese, studies at Johns Hopkins University.

Josh is currently a Physical Education teacher at Albany High School in Albany, NY. He has over 10 years of coaching experience and is currently building programs in the City of Albany to encourage children to learn and play soccer. Josh is always looking for opportunities to help students and athletes from underprivileged neighborhoods succeed. 

Josh played soccer at Manhattan College, a school that competes in the NCAA Division 1 MAAC Conference. He graduated with a B.S. in Physical Education. 

After Manhattan, Josh completed his Master’s Degree in Athletic Administration at the prestigious sporting institute Springfield College. While at Springfield, he conducted research and completed his thesis: “Enhancing Participation and Retention of Female Soccer Players from Low-income, Urban Areas”.

Josh loves his Goldendoodle puppy named Harry and is working towards climbing the 46 high peaks in New York State’s Adirondack Park. 

Adam grew up in Clarksville, MD where he competed on his school’s Cross Country and Track teams. He went on to compete at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) for one season, and also spent time as a volunteer assistant coach. Adam has made his professional career as an auditor and consultant, working mostly with federal government agencies. He is graduating from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business in May, 2021 with a Master’s in Business Administration. He will be joining J.P. Morgan Private Bank as a Client Advisor in the fall.

Rebecca Elise is an American communication specialist and researcher based in Copenhagen, Denmark. She’s been involved in sports for most of her life, including travel volleyball leagues in both her hometown of Chicago and current home base of Copenhagen, and is passionate about seeing young people turn their dedication for athletics into opportunities for the future. Alongside completing her Master’s in Global Studies and Communication, she serves as the Secretary for ATA, handling the administrative side of things and helping to grow our impact through partnerships and grants.
